Boudewyn Beukenkamp
May 26, 1949 — October 8, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Boudewyn "Dutch" Beukenkamp, who left us on November 8, 2026, after an unexpected illness. Born on May 26, 1949, in Veenendaal, Netherlands, Dutch was a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend whose life was a testament to love, music, and adventure.
Dutch was the beloved son of the late Lourens and Margaret Beukenkamp. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Susan (Kawecki) Beukenkamp, his loving daughter Niki Beukenkamp, his brother Roderik, sister-in-law Linda, and many other dear family members. Together with Susan, whom he married on June 25, 1978, in West Islip, New York, Dutch created a home filled with warmth and laughter, nurturing not only their daughter but also fostering meaningful connections with several foreign exchange students.
A graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music, Dutch earned a Bachelor of Arts in music, a passion that he carried throughout his life. His career was as diverse as it was fulfilling, starting as a middle school instrumental music teacher. He then ventured into entrepreneurship by owning a marina before finally settling into a rewarding role as a Field Service Technician for Van Dyk Recycling Solutions. Throughout his varied career, Dutch exemplified the spirit of a "Jack of All Trades," tackling every challenge with ingenuity and dedication.
Dutch was an integral part of his community, actively participating in the Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield, Virginia. His melodious voice graced the church choirs, and his skilled hands played the handbells, bringing joy to all who heard him. He was also a proud member of the Sting Ray Point Yacht Club in Deltaville, Virginia, and a past member of the Rotary Club, contributing to the community with enthusiasm and commitment.
An avid sailor, Dutch found peace and joy on the water, sharing countless adventures with his wife and boating friends. His love for Deltaville was boundless, and he relished every moment spent there. Music was his lifelong companion; whether it was classical or rock, Dutch could play any instrument with ease and passion. His mechanical prowess made him the go-to problem solver for friends and family alike, and he delighted in sharing his skills.
Dutch's life was enriched by his love for cars and NASCAR, whether attending races in person or enjoying them from the comfort of his home. But above all, his family was his greatest treasure. Known for his quick wit, warm smile, and a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued, Dutch's kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
A service to celebrate Dutch's remarkable life will be held on November 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Lower United Methodist Church, located at 120 Lower Church Road, Hartfield, VA 23071. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lower United Methodist Church or Pet Friends for Life in his memory.
As we bid farewell to Dutch, we hold close the special message from his family: “Fair winds and following seas.” May he rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished by those who knew and loved him.
