Bonnie Welch

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Bonnie Welch, who peacefully departed this world on August 20, 2026, at the age of 85, in the warmth and comfort of her home in Dorr, Michigan. Bonnie was born on August 18, 1941, in Dorr, to loving parents Leo and Fran Greely. She was a beacon of love and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Bonnie's life was a tapestry of love, woven with threads of dedication to her family and community. She married the love of her life, Gordon Welch, in a quaint town in Germany in 1960. Their union was a testament to enduring love and companionship, spanning an incredible 66 years. Professionally, Bonnie was a cherished librarian at Wayland Union Schools. Her dedication to fostering a love for reading and learning in young minds was evident in her every action. Her gentle demeanor and unwavering patience left an indelible mark on students and colleagues alike. She was a woman of boundless compassion and generosity, known for her ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Bonnie's pride and joy were her family, whom she adored beyond measure. Her nurturing spirit lives on in her surviving husband, Gordon, and their children: Brian (Alaine), Jeff (Becky), Amy and Adam Vincent, and Barbra Welch (Barbie). She was also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Her brother Dennis (Kim) Greely, along with many nephews and nieces, also carry forward her legacy of love. Bonnie was predeceased by her dear son, Gordon James Welch Jr., whose memory she cherished deeply. Her family and friends take solace in knowing that they are now reunited. A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held on August 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home Dorr Chapel, located at 4330 18th Street, Dorr, MI 49323. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a life so beautifully lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in Bonnie’s memory to a charity of choice, to continue her legacy of kindness and generosity. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who filled Bonnie’s life with adventure and love. Her greatest treasures were the children and friends she cherished, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be remembered.
