Bonita Yon, born on September 6, 1942, in the charming town of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026. An extraordinary woman, Bonita graced the world with her warmth and vivacity for nearly 84 years. She was the beloved daughter of Ray and Mary Jane, who predeceased her, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. Bonita's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community. She shared a remarkable 50-year marriage with her devoted husband, Waymon, whom she married on November 27, 1975, in Florida. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and a deep, abiding love. Their union was blessed with three children: Pamela and her husband Stephen, Anthony and his wife Judy, and Justin and his wife Jennifer. Her family was the center of her world, and her heart expanded with every grandchild and great-grandchild who entered her life. Bonita cherished her ten grandchildren—Eric, Todd, Jordan, Jayden, Xavier, Gabe, Xeyla, Taylor, Jaelynn, and Janessa—and her four great-grandchildren: Caia, Caleia, Cruze, and Romeo. She took immense pride in each of them, often sharing stories of their accomplishments and adventures. Bonita's career as a secretary for the Department of the Army spoke to her diligence and commitment. Yet, it was in her personal life where she truly shone. Known for her quick wit, huge heart, and undeniable presence, she was a pillar of strength and compassion. Whether it was singing and dancing to her beloved Motown classics or hosting unforgettable gatherings filled with laughter and the aroma of her favorite Pennsylvania Dutch recipes, Bonita found joy in every moment. Her love for cooking was legendary, and she delighted in feeding friends and family, often opening her home to anyone in need of a meal or a comforting place to stay. Her passion for hosting parties, playing spades, and exploring the European countryside with her loved ones were just a few of the many ways she shared her zest for life. Bonita is survived by her loving husband, Waymon, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her dear brother Rodney and his wife Carol. Her family, along with countless others whose lives she touched, will carry forward her spirit of generosity and love. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Bonita's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting Bonita's giving nature and her lifelong commitment to helping others. As we remember Bonita Yon, let us celebrate a life lived with passion, love, and an unwavering dedication to those she held dear. Her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
