In loving memory of Bonita Harris, who was born on October 7, 1958, in Birmingham, Alabama, and called home by the Lord on September 16, 2026, after a valiant battle with metastatic breast cancer. Bonita's life was a testament to resilience, love, and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her. Bonita was the beloved daughter of Fannie Mae and Edward Harris, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her cherished grandmother Tommie Lilly Adamson, grandfather Wilson Adamson, and the love of her life, Harold Johnson. She is survived by her devoted siblings Desiree Jackson, Vicki Terry, Wynee Williams (Carl), and Edward Harris (Alvenia). Her children, Tarria Harris Hill (Larry) and Tyrell Harris (Charity), carry forward her spirit of strength and compassion. Bonita's legacy is further enriched by her grandchildren, Travares Edward Harris and Keara Carter, and her great-grandchildren, Trinity Lindsey Harris-8and Naomi Zara Taniya Gates (2weeks old) Bonita's close friends, Joyce Lewis, Tracey West Carter, Gloria Edwards, and Renda Williams, along with her nieces Denetra Johnson, Tanya Harris, Yolanda Lane, Abrea Johnson, and nephews Zane Womack and Dan Reaves (DJ), were an integral part of her life, sharing in her laughter and love. A proud graduate of Phillips High School's Class of 1977, Bonita was known for her loyalty, fearlessness, and zest for life. Despite the challenges posed by neuropathy, Bonita was an avid TV enthusiast and a champion streamer. Her vibrant personality was evident in her love for dancing, often humorously claiming to be a pole dancer with her trusty walking stick, Moses. Bonita's spirit was infectious, and she never shied away from speaking her mind or having a good time. A service to honor Bonita's remarkable life will be held at 4:00 PM on September 25, 2026, at the Tara Gardens Chapel, 681 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 30236. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Bonita's memory to the American Cancer Society - Breast Cancer Fund. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to friends, family, and the community at Hearthside Jonesboro, as well as the Piedmont Cancer Institute, especially Dr. Trevor Feinstein, for their unwavering support and care. Bonita's journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection, genetic testing, and regular medical check-ups. Though cancer may have thought it won the battle, God stepped in and rescued her from its terror. Bonita Harris will forever be remembered for her courage, love, and unyielding spirit. Her story will continue to inspire and remind us of the significance of life's precious moments and the enduring bond of family and friendship.
