In Loving Memory

Bobby Ray Simmons
July 25, 1957 — February 22, 2026
It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Bobby Ray Simmons, who left this world on February 22, 2026, at the age of 68. A cherished soul born on July 25, 1957, in Houston, Texas, Bobby was the son of the late Robert and Delores Simmons. His journey through life was one marked by love, laughter, and a dedication to family and friends.
Bobby's early years were nurtured in a loving family, alongside his predeceased siblings, including his twin sister, Jean Esther, and his sister, Annette Wimbush, as well as his brothers, Robert Jr., Johnny, and Bruce Simmons. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Mae Lockett, and his cherished grandmothers, Ollie Conner and Willie B. Lee, and grandfathers, David Sheldon and Leroy Hollins.
Bobby's educational journey began at Ryan Jr. High and Jack Yates High School, followed by his graduation from Windom High School in 1976. He later pursued his passion for mechanics and HVAC, obtaining certifications from Houston Community College. A dedicated and hardworking man, Bobby's career saw him excel in various roles, including head cook and assistant manager at prominent establishments such as the Ramada Inn and Houston's Ship Channel, where he touched many lives with his infectious humor and unwavering work ethic.
Bobby's life was one of faith and community. From a young age, he embraced his spirituality, attending Fourth Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. C.E. Coates, and later Sandy Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, influencing his generous spirit and the warmth he extended to everyone he met.
A man of many passions, Bobby delighted in fishing, cooking, and traveling, sharing his love for these activities with friends and family. His culinary skills were matched only by his talent for storytelling, often weaving tales that left listeners in stitches. Bobby's gift for humor and his role as a jovial jokester endeared him to a wide circle of friends, from strangers to co-workers and clergy, leaving a legacy of laughter and joy.
Bobby's family was the centerpiece of his life, and he is survived by his devoted son, Christopher Serialle, and his daughter, Diamond Simmons. He leaves behind four treasured grandsons, each a testament to his enduring love and legacy. Bobby's sister, Selomia "Kay" Stephens, also survives him, and she, along with the rest of his family, will forever cherish his memory.
In 2004, Bobby married his long-time friend Florence Serialle, and their union was blessed with love and companionship. He later found love again with the late Annie Mae Lockett, whose memory he cherished deeply.
As we gather to celebrate Bobby's life, we are reminded of the joy he brought into our lives, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His spirit will live on in the cherished memories of all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held to honor Bobby's life, with details to be announced shortly. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your local community church or charity, in tribute to Bobby's generous nature and his commitment to helping others.
Rest in peace, dear Bobby. Your laughter, love, and light will never fade from our hearts.
