Bobby Lee Medley
August 8, 1932 — March 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Bobby Lee Medley on March 26, 2026, at the age of 93. Bobby, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at home in the comforting presence of his beloved granddaughter, who tenderly cared for him in his final days.
Bobby was born on August 8, 1932, in Eminence, Missouri, to parents Harry Medley and Hazel Wood. He grew up in a close-knit family, where he was lovingly called brother by Anna Marie Lane and Buddy Medley, all of whom predeceased him. His love for storytelling and his remarkable memory were well-known, often leaving family and friends in awe and laughter.
A man of many interests, Bobby found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid traveler, a pastime that broadened his horizons and enriched his soul. Fishing provided him with moments of peace and reflection, while his passion for coin collecting showcased his appreciation for history and detail. Bobby also relished the thrill of visiting casinos, where he enjoyed both the games and the vibrant company of others. Above all, it was his family and friends who brought the greatest joy to his life, as he loved nothing more than making those around him laugh and feel cherished.
Bobby is survived by his devoted daughters, Katherine and Bradley Detrick, Shannon and Jeff Patterson, who were the lights of his life. He was blessed with five grandchildren—Steven Harris, Micheal Graff, Le'Anna Garcia, Michelle Graffe, Amber Griffith, Christopher Robins, and Crystal Hyatt—and 16 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his sons, Terry Lee Graffe, Robby, and Bobby Medley. Despite the profound losses he experienced, Bobby carried on with grace and resilience, always finding a reason to smile and share joy with others.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care nurses for their compassionate support during Bobby's final journey. Their kindness, along with the love and assistance from family and friends, was a true blessing.
As we bid farewell to Bobby, we celebrate a life marked by laughter, love, and unforgettable stories. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kansas City Hospice in his memory, so that others may benefit from the same compassionate care that Bobby received.
A memorial service to honor Bobby's life will be held at [Location] on [Date] at [Time]. All who knew and loved Bobby are invited to join us in celebrating the indelible mark he left on our lives.
