Obituary With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Bobbie Brumfield Johnson, who entered eternal rest on August 12, 2026, in the comfort of her beloved home. Born on November 15, 1950, Bobbie was a beacon of love, kindness, and faith, touching the lives of all she encountered. Bobbie was the cherished daughter of Clifton Brumfield Sr. and Ida Mae Turner Brumfield, who preceded her in death, along with her dear sisters, Louise C. Ross, Betty F. Claiborn, and Joann Brumfield McCray. She was also preceded by her great-granddaughter, A'xanni Byrd, and numerous other family and friends who now welcome her with open arms. Bobbie’s loving spirit is survived by her devoted sons, Howard Lydell McCray Sr. of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jamey McCray of Kentwood, Louisiana, as well as her bonus son, Cordell Perry of Velma, Louisiana. She leaves behind her beloved sisters, Gloria Brumfield Coleman of Kentwood, Louisiana, and Marilyn Brumfield Young of Osyka, Mississippi, and her brothers, Clifton Brumfield Jr. of McComb, Mississippi, and Willie Bert Brumfield of Miami, Florida. Bobbie’s legacy is carried forward by her fifteen adoring grandchildren, including Lydrell Barze Sr., Jasma Hall (Leroy), and Howard McCray Jr., whom she raised as her own, along with her twenty-one great-grandchildren. Her special friend, Emma Addison, who was like a sister to her, and a host of other relatives and friends, will continue to cherish her memory. In 1981, Bobbie united in holy matrimony with Charles E. Johnson. Together, they shared 44 beautiful years, marked by love and companionship, often seen holding hands and exploring the world together. After Charles's passing in 2025, Bobbie carried his memory close to her heart. Educated in the Pike County Mississippi School District, Bobbie pursued further education at Northshore Technical Community College in Greensburg, Louisiana. She dedicated herself to a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role she embraced with compassion and dedication. Bobbie was a woman of faith, deeply rooted in Christian values. She was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Osyka, Mississippi, and later joined Oak Grove AME Church in Kentwood, Louisiana, where her voice graced the choir until her health declined. Her passions were as vibrant as her spirit. Bobbie found joy in gardening, fishing, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and especially in celebrating Christmas with family. She treasured her country rides and the simple pleasures of life. A service to honor and celebrate Bobbie's life will be held at Black Cemetery Across, located at 1286 Newsom Lane, Tangipahoa, LA 70465. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in their sorrow and offered support during this difficult time. The family of Bobbie Brumfield-Johnson offers their sincere thanks for the love, prayers, and kindness shown by friends and acquaintances. As we say goodbye to our beloved Bobbie, we remember her with the words of an blessing: "May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields...
