Bob Quantrell
December 6, 1942 — March 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Quantrell at the age of 83, on March 28th, 2026, at Fairvern Long Term Care home. Born on December 6, 1942, in Orillia, Bob's journey was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends.
Bob was the beloved son of Eileen and Lorne Quantrell, who predeceased him, along with his cherished sister, Janice Cotterchio. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Sherry, whom he met during their time at Northern Michigan University. Their love story began amidst the academic halls and blossomed into a partnership that saw them raise two wonderful children in Erin, Ontario, before returning to the Huntsville area to manage Glen Manor Cottages in Dwight.
Bob was the proud father of Mike (Tammy) and Jaime (Graham), and the adoring grandfather to Dylan (Emma), Blake, Mitchell, and Audrey. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to thrive in the hearts of his family. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Peter Cotterchio, nephew Wade, niece Andrea (Nick), and great-nephew Colt, as well as his longtime friend and neighbor, Garry Best.
An alumnus of Huntsville High School, Bob's early years were marked by a passion for sports, particularly hockey, where he made a name for himself as a talented player. His love for the game continued throughout his life, as he participated joyfully with the Erin Oldtimers.
Bob's career was as dynamic as his personality. He was an owner and battery salesman at MagnaCharge and also dedicated his afternoons to Wardair, later Canadian Airlines, before retiring to dedicate his efforts to Glen Manor Cottages alongside Sherry.
A man of varied interests, Bob found joy as a longtime member of the Butterbowl Hunt Camp, where he cherished making memories with fellow members. An avid golfer, he was a fixture at Erin Heights Golf Course, where he served as Captain of the Men's Section, sharing his love for the game with others. Thursday evenings held a special place in Bob's heart, as he gathered for poker nights, a tradition filled with camaraderie and laughter.
Bob's quick wit and storytelling prowess were legendary, endearing him to all who had the pleasure of his company. His warmth and humor brightened every room, and his ability to connect with people left a lasting impact on those fortunate to know him.
In honor of Bob's memory, the family invites those wishing to make donations to consider Fairvern Long Term Care, whose nurses and staff provided heartfelt care and comfort during his final days. The family also extends their deepest appreciation to these caregivers for their compassionate dedication.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, and his spirit will be remembered with the laughter and love that defined his life.
Bob Quantrell's life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and community. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him and remind us all of the beauty found in a life well-lived.
