Bob Quantrell

December 6, 1942 — March 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Quantrell, who left this world on March 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Bob was surrounded by love during his final moments at Fairvern Long Term Care home, a testament to a life well-lived and deeply loved. Born on December 6, 1942, in the picturesque town of Orillia, Bob was the beloved son of Eileen and Lorne Quantrell, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his sister, Janice Cotterchio, with whom he shared many fond memories. Bob's early years were marked by a passion for hockey, where he earned a reputation as a superstar player in Huntsville and later at the University of Michigan. His love for the game was matched only by his love for storytelling, a gift he shared with everyone he met. His quick wit and grand tales were a staple at gatherings, leaving family and friends in laughter and awe. In Huntsville, Bob met the love of his life, Sherry Dianne, with whom he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised two devoted children, Mike (Tammy) and Jaime (Graham), in Erin, Ontario. Their family grew to include four adoring grandchildren: Dylan (Emma), Blake, Mitchell, and Audrey, who will forever cherish the memories shared with their dear Grandpa. Bob's career was as colorful as his personality. Starting as a charismatic battery salesman at MagnaCharge, where he was an owner, Bob later found fulfillment working for Wardair and Canadian Airlines. Eventually, he and Sherry returned to the Huntsville area to run Glen Manor Cottages in Dwight, where they welcomed guests with warmth and hospitality. An avid sportsman, Bob was a longtime member of the Butterbowl Hunt Camp and a passionate golfer. As Captain of the Men's Division at Erin Heights Golf Course, he inspired many with his skill and sportsmanship. His time on the course and in the camp was filled with camaraderie and joy, creating stories that will be shared for generations. Bob's legacy of love extends beyond his immediate family. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Peter Cotterchio, nephew Wade, niece Andrea (Nick), and great-nephew Colt. His longtime friend and neighbor, Garry Best, was an enduring presence in his life, sharing countless adventures and laughs. In honoring Bob's memory, the family requests donations be made to the Fairvern Long Term Care "In Memoriam of Bob Quantrell" fund. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Fairvern for their wonderful care and tenderness, and to all the friends and neighbors who visited and supported Bob during his final days. Bob Quantrell's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unforgettable stories. He touched the hearts of everyone he met and leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. May his spirit continue to inspire and his stories bring smiles for years to come.
