Born on December 6, 1942, in Orillia, Bob was the cherished son of Eileen and Lorne Quantrell. He was welcomed into this world with a warmth and joy that he carried with him throughout his life. His early years in Huntsville were marked by a passion for sports, particularly hockey, where he shone as a superstar player, captivating the hearts of many with his skill and sportsmanship. Bob's journey took a pivotal turn when he attended Northern Michigan University, where he met the love of his life, Sherry. Their union was one of enduring love and partnership, spanning 58 beautiful years. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Mike (Tammy) and Jaime (Graham), in Erin, Ontario, before returning to the Huntsville area to manage Glen Manor Cottages in Dwight. This move allowed Bob and Sherry to immerse themselves in the community they cherished so deeply. Bob's professional life was as dynamic as his personality. As a dedicated battery salesman and owner at MagnaCharge, Bob's work ethic and commitment were unmatched. He juggled his professional endeavors with an afternoon role at Wardair, and later Canadian Airlines, before fully dedicating himself to the family business at Glen Manor Cottages alongside Sherry. Outside of his professional life, Bob was a man of many passions. A longtime member of Butterbowl Hunt Camp, he found solace and joy in the camaraderie and the stories shared there. An avid golfer, he was a pillar of the Erin Heights Golf course community, where he served as Captain of the Men's Section, inspiring countless players with his leadership and love for the game. His Thursday poker nights were legendary, a testament to his quick wit and love for storytelling that endeared him to all who knew him. Bob's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted father to Mike and Jaime, and a proud grandfather to Dylan (Emma), Blake, Mitchell, and Audrey. His love extended to his brother-in-law Peter Cotterchio, nephew Wade, niece Andrea (Nick), and great-nephew Colt. Bob was predeceased by his dear sister, Janice Cotterchio, and his loving parents, Eileen and Lorne. In his final years, Bob was surrounded by the love and care of the dedicated staff at Fairvern Long Term Care, for which his family is deeply grateful. Their compassion and dedication provided comfort and dignity in his final days.
