Blanca Lydia Martir Rodriguez, a beacon of kindness and faith, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love of her family and the compassionate care of hospice staff. Born on June 16, 1938, in the picturesque town of Las Marias, Puerto Rico, Blanca lived a life rich in faith, service, and love. Blanca was a devoted member of the Adventist Church in Puerto Rico, where she dedicated her time and energy to serving her community with grace and generosity. Her unwavering faith and commitment were evident throughout her life, as she was always willing and able to help those in need, offering a helping hand to the elderly and anyone who required assistance. Her selfless acts of kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was married to Rufino Lugo, who preceded her in death, and together they built a life centered around love and family. Blanca is survived by her sons, Rodolfo and Jose Merced, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and dedication. Her spirit is further cherished by her grandchildren, Lisette and Ricardo Merced, Jasmine (Merced) Bennett, and Luis Merced, as well as her great-grandchildren, Anaya Jones, Camilla, and Ava Bennett. Blanca’s brother, Nelson Martir, along with several nieces and nephews, also survive her, each holding dear the memories of her warmth and kindness. Blanca's life was a testament to her Christian values and her unwavering dedication to her faith. Her influence extended beyond her family and church, touching countless lives in her community. Her gentle nature and welcoming spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Solaris Healthcare Nursing Home and Melech Tampa Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided during Blanca's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Blanca’s life and legacy. As we celebrate her life, we hold close the values she instilled in us and the love she shared so freely. Blanca Lydia Martir Rodriguez will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy of faith and service will continue to inspire us all.
