Bishop Harris
March 15, 1950 — September 22, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bishop Harris, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, who peacefully departed this world on September 22, 2026, at Battle Creek Bronson Hospital after a short illness. Born on March 15, 1950, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Bishop was a cherished soul whose life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication.
Bishop was the cherished son of the late Bishop Harris Sr. and Lucy Phene Drain. He was predeceased by his dear parents and his sisters, Lou Verne and Martha, nephew Rodney Fisher whom he called his son. He had stepdaughters Kimberly and Patrina, grandkids Tekarra, Te'Asia and Terrance. and a host of nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving wife, Melodie Harris, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage since February 14, 2003, and his devoted sister, Catherine Collins.
A man of deep faith, Bishop was a committed member of Emmanuel Covenant Church International where he occasionally shared his wisdom through sermons and taught Sunday School. His unwavering love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, guiding him with strength and compassion.
In addition to his spiritual pursuits, Bishop was an enthusiast of construction and home improvement, talents that he channeled into his own company, Bishop's Home Improvement. His love for working with his hands extended beyond his professional life, as he found joy and peace in being outdoors on his tractor, tending to his yard, and walking his little dog, Zipper. Bishop's love for music was expansive, encompassing the soulful sounds of Jazz, R&B, and gospel, and he found solace in the pages of his Bible.
Bishop's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Battle Creek Bronson Hospital, Transportation, Fresenius, and many others who provided care and support during his final days. In the words of his beloved wife, Melodie, "You never know what a loss feels like until you've lost it. Even though your presence is not here, it is felt in my heart. But I know you're happy, and that makes me feel better. Love you, hun."
In memory of Bishop Harris, the family suggests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice or to causes that reflect Bishop's love for community and faith.
Bishop Harris will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. May his soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the Lord.
