Billy Hort Mungo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Hort Mungo, a cherished soul who left this world on October 9, 2026. Born on March 3, 1946, in Maryland City, Maryland, Billy was the beloved son of Farlie and Janie Wright Mungo. His journey through life was marked by kindness, humor, and an unwavering devotion to the family he held dear. Billy's life was a testament to the love and dedication he poured into his role as a father and grandfather. He was a man whose warm heart and infectious laughter could light up any room, creating memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate to know him. His family always came first, and his legacy of love and commitment to them will continue to inspire. Billy leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his memory: his four children, Audrey Mungo Bradford and her husband Thomas Bradford, Latosha Mungo, Billy Russell Mungo, and Michael Mungo. His spirit and love will also live on in his seven cherished grandchildren: Thomas, Tre'mon, Taqwanjelique, Tempsett, Russell, Laquaisha, and Quanesha, all residing in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by two devoted brothers, Mr. Hubert Mungo and his wife Helen of Charlotte, N.C., and Mr. Howard Mungo and his wife Betty of Jefferson; two sisters, Mrs. Lee Ann Mungo Vinson and Lillie Margaret Mungo of Pageland; and three loving aunts, Mayo Wright of Jefferson, Judy Benson and her husband Luther, and Betty Merriman of Pageland. Billy's gentle soul touched the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed. As we reflect on the time we shared with him, we are comforted by the knowledge that his spirit will continue to guide us, and his laughter will echo in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Billy's memory to a charity of your choice, as a way to honor his generous spirit. May Billy Hort Mungo rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
