In loving memory of Billie Joyce Haynes Roberts (later Pace, Hintze, and Burnett), who peacefully departed this world on June 9, 2026, in Austin, Texas. Billie lived a remarkable and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of many with her warmth, intelligence, and unwavering loyalty. She was born on November 11, 1928, in Beaumont, Texas, to her beloved parents, William Barney and Gladyne Crouch Haynes. Billie was a beacon of strength and perseverance throughout her life, beginning her journey at Lamar Junior College, where she earned an Associate's degree. She married Sam S. Roberts, Jr., after completing her studies, embarking on a journey filled with love and companionship. Together, they moved to Dallas, where Billie worked for Campbell Taggert Bakeries and the FBI, supporting Sam as he pursued his degree at SMU. The couple eventually returned to Beaumont, where Billie embraced the role of a dedicated mother and pursued further education, obtaining a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education from Lamar University. Billie's commitment to education and nurturing young minds defined her career as an elementary school teacher in the South Park ISD and Beaumont ISD for over two decades. Her passion for learning and teaching left an indelible mark on her students, many of whom remember her fondly for her patience and dedication. A woman of many talents, Billie was an avid dancer, delighting in Square and Round Dance clubs in Beaumont, and later joining a Line Dance group that performed at various events. Her love for travel took her and her family on numerous adventures across the United States and around the world, creating cherished memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Billie's dedication to her heritage was evident in her extensive genealogical research, which led to her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Texas Revolution. She meticulously compiled records tracing her ancestry back to the 3rd or 4th century AD, a testament to her ambition and attention to detail. Her personal qualities of intelligence, ambition, and a no-nonsense attitude were balanced by her warmth, loyalty, and humor. Billie cherished her friendships, maintaining lifelong connections with friends from high school and beyond. She was a high achiever who found joy in both the small moments and grand adventures of life. Billie's legacy lives on in her surviving family: her devoted husband, Joseph Burnett; her loving sister, Grace Gunn; her cherished children, Dan and Kathy Roberts, Sam and Margaret Roberts, and Charles and Catherine Roberts; her treasured grandchildren, Diana Van Brunt, Chloe Mazurek, and Clayton, Zachary, Alexandra, and Sophie Roberts, and Lauren Pratto ; and her adored great-grandchildren, Emma, Jackson, Mayzie, and Miles Mazurek, Django and Wrenna Van Brunt, and Noah and Wade Roberts.
