Billie Jean Spooner
November 24, 1936 — June 6, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Billie Jean Spooner, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, on June 6, 2026, at the age of 89. Surrounded by the love of her family, Billie left this world from the comfort of her home, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering family devotion.
Billie was born on November 24, 1936, in the picturesque town of St. Maries, Idaho, to loving parents Paul and Irene Taisey. She grew up in a bustling household alongside her many siblings, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. Though she was predeceased by her parents and numerous siblings, including Walt, Paul, Bud, Swede, Mick, Robert, Lyle, Donald, Jack, Margaret, Hazel, Ina, and Donna, the memories of their shared laughter and love remained a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.
In November of 1954, Billie married the love of her life, Dewey Spooner, during her senior year of high school. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey of love and partnership, welcoming their first daughter, Shannon, in September 1955. Over the years, their family grew with the arrival of their sons, Tim, Troy, and Todd, each bringing new joy and purpose to Billie’s life. Although Dewey, their beloved son Todd, and grandson Nicholas preceded her in death, Billie’s heart remained full with memories of their shared adventures and love.
A dedicated professional, Billie worked as a secretary and bookkeeper, roles in which her meticulous nature and dedication shone brightly. Her career was a testament to her strong work ethic and her commitment to supporting her family. Yet, it was her passions outside of work that truly defined her spirit.
Billie found immense joy in exploring her ancestry, uncovering the stories and connections of her family tree. This passion for history and connection extended into her cherished horseback camping trips with Dewey, friends, and family. These adventures, full of laughter and love, were among her most treasured memories. In their later years, Billie and Dewey found solace and happiness at their cabin on the St. Joe River, where nature’s beauty mirrored the tranquility of their enduring love.
Billie's legacy lives on in her surviving family: her devoted daughter Shannon and son-in-law Barry Badgett, her sons Tim and his wife Jamie Spooner, and Troy Spooner. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Brianne Watkins and her husband Lane, Brandon Spooner, and Andrew Spooner, as well as her dear great-grandchildren, Taci, Lyssa, Jaden, and Hailey, who brought immense joy to her life.
As we bid farewell to Billie, we remember her as a beacon of love and strength, a woman whose life was a testament to the power of family and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Billie’s life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to the generous spirit that Billie so gracefully embodied.
Rest in peace, dear Billie. Your love surrounds us still, and your spirit continues to inspire all who were blessed to know you.
