In Loving Memory

Bill L Laird
August 20, 1960 — April 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Bill L. Laird, who departed this world on April 10, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on August 20, 1960, in Oconomowoc, Bill's journey was one of hard work, deep love, and the relentless pursuit of joy, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Bill was the cherished son of Jack and Elaine Laird, both of whom predeceased him, alongside his Stepfather, Dick Andersen and loving partner Sue Dietrich. He was a devoted brother to Glenn and Patty, Robert and Francisca, and John and Donn and Pam Laird, who will all miss him dearly. Bill found a partner in Sue Dietrich, whose unwavering love and companionship were constants in his life.
A graduate of the "School of Hard Knocks," Bill was a testament to resilience and determination. He took over the family business, Laird Plastering, transforming it into a testament of his dedication and work ethic. Known for being kind-hearted yet stubborn, Bill's spirit was as strong as his handshake, his character as solid as the walls he plastered.
Bill's life was a tapestry of simple pleasures and deep passions. An avid fisherman, he found peace on the water, casting his pole with the patience that only nature can teach. The family farm was a sanctuary, a place where he could nurture life and find tranquility. As a teenager, he loved nothing more than lighting up the roads in his late '60s Plymouth Roadrunner, a symbol of his youthful exuberance and love for adventure.
Though his health presented challenges in his final days, Bill's courageous spirit and unwavering dedication to his loved ones never wavered. His life was a testament to the power of love, family, and hard work, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on May 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM. We will gather to honor the remarkable man he was, to share stories, and to find comfort in the love that he so freely gave to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to making the world a better place.
Bill L. Laird will be remembered as a man who knew the value of a hard day's work, the comfort of a peaceful evening on the water, and the joy of a life well-lived. We take solace in knowing that he is casting his line in the tranquil waters of eternity, his spirit forever lighting up the paths he once traveled.
