Beverly K. Vandervort, a cherished member of the Bloomington community, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on September 12, 1939, Beverly was the beloved daughter of the late Hugh and Vera Mae Bicknell. Her life was a testament to love, family, and community service. Beverly grew up in Bloomington, Illinois, where she developed a lifelong love for nature and nurturing. Her passion for sewing and gardening brought beauty and warmth to her home and those around her. A voracious reader, Beverly found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books, a habit she maintained throughout her life. In her early years, Beverly met and married her soulmate, the late Conrad Vandervort. Together, they built a life rich with love and laughter, raising four wonderful children: Susan Farrow, Laurie Woodrum, Sydney Cantwell, and Ron Woodrum, who survives her alongside his wife, Deborah. Beverly is also survived by her son Art Woodrum and his wife, Sue, who brought additional joy and companionship into her life. Beverly was a devoted grandmother to Christy Valyou, Jennifer Schmidt, and Jordan Woodrum, and a proud great-grandmother to Emerson, Nolan, and Violet Valyou, as well as Conner, Quinn, and Emely Schmidt. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life. She spent countless hours with them, crafting memories filled with laughter, stories, and love. Beverly's life was also enriched by her relationships with her siblings. She shared a special bond with her surviving sister, Marilyn Long, and brothers Bill and Douglas Bicknell. She was predeceased by her sister JoAnna Burns and brothers Gerald Bicknell and Dan Burns, who surely welcomed her with open arms into their eternal home. Her life was a tapestry woven with the threads of community service, friendship, and family. Beverly was known for her kindness and generosity, always finding time for her many friends and neighbors. Her home was a gathering place, filled with warmth and welcome. A lover of travel, Beverly embarked on numerous adventures, experiencing the beauty of the world with wide-eyed wonder. Her journeys were often accompanied by tales of her late dog, Tara, and her beloved cat, Bow, who brought her endless companionship and joy. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral service will be held to honor Beverly's remarkable life. Her family kindly requests privacy during this time of remembrance. Beverly K. Vandervort's legacy is one of love, kindness, and joy. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love of her family and friends.
