March 21, 1937 — October 20, 2026
In loving memory of Beverly Entrekin Quarles, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved children on October 20, 2026 after a brief respiratory illness, a service to celebrate Beverly's life will be held on Sunday October 25, 2026 at Beulah Methodist Church. The church is located at 161 Beulah Church Road, Gilbert, S.C. 29054. Beverly was a cherished, selfless soul who left a mark on the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Born on March 21, 1937, in Pageland, South Carolina, Beverly was the daughter of the late Wayne Gaines Entrekin and Helen Sanders Entrekin. Her early years were marked by a deep love for learning and an unyielding curiosity that would guide her throughout her life. She graduated from Langley Bath Clearwater High School and continued her education at The University of South Carolina, where she earned a BA in Secondary English Education, a minor in Spanish, and a MEd in Guidance and Counseling.
Beverly dedicated her life to education, beginning her career as a teacher at Hand Junior High School. She later found her true calling at Brookland Cayce High School, where she taught English from 1975 until her retirement in 2002. Her passion for teaching and her dedication to her students left a lasting legacy, inspiring countless young minds over the years.
On May 29, 1957, Beverly married the love of her life, Wallace Corley Quarles, in Columbia. Together, they built a loving family and created a home filled with love, faith, laughter and warmth. Though Wallace predeceased her, their love story continues to inspire their family even now.
Beverly was a devoted mother to her four children, Kathy Quarles Moore (Scotty), Michael Wallace Quarles (Lisa), Della Quarles Bomar (Mal), and Lara Quarles Harris Heath. She was also a proud grandmother to Devin Moore, Casey Moore, Jordan Quarles, Joseph Quarles, Nicole Derby, Caelan Derby, Cade Harris, and the late McKenna Brooke Harris. She was also a loving great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren. Her family, including her brother Dr. Gaines Entrekin (Lang), many cousins, nieces, and nephews, were the center of her world. She also had many close friends and adored them all.
A woman of deep faith, Beverly was a former member of Northside Baptist Church for 60 years where she taught Sunday School, and was more recently a member of Beulah Methodist Church. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, offering strength and comfort to those around her.
Beverly's adventurous spirit was evident in her love for travel and reading. She found joy in swimming and skiing, and was known for her impressive slalom skiing well into her 70's as well as for her Cross Fit competition at age 80 that landed her on the news. Her happiest moments were spent at the lake surrounded by her family and extended family, where her laughter and joy were contagious.
Beverly is also fondly remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support. Her presence brought comfort and joy to those who were fortunate to know her.
Beverly Entrekin Quarles will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Though she will be deeply missed here on earth, we find comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of our Lord and savior, reunited with loved ones that have gone before her, until that glorious day when we meet again.
