It is with profound sadness and enduring love that we announce the passing of Beverly Ann Smith Willie, who left this world peacefully on June 29, 2026, in the comforting embrace of her family and home in Carthage, Texas. Born on September 10, 1962, in the heart of Carthage, Beverly was the beloved daughter of Will and Katherine Smith. She was 63 years old.
Beverly's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and kindness. She was predeceased by her cherished sisters Sharon Smith, Kathy Staten, Mary Smith, Marie Ann Smith, and her beloved brothers Robert Lee, Willie, James, Will, and Earnest Smith. Despite these losses, Beverly's enduring spirit and unwavering dedication to her family shone brightly.
On May 25, 1979, Beverly embarked on a journey of love and partnership, marrying her devoted husband, Trospher Willie Jr. Together, they celebrated 46 beautiful years of marriage, becoming cornerstones of strength and support for their loved ones. Beverly was the proud and loving mother of Beverly (Tyrone) Sanders, Debbie Willie, and Trospher Willie III. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren, Tatiana (Marques) Davis, Tiana Scott, Kayla Smith, Jaylin Willie (Lesia), Tra'Darius Willie, and Dominic Gates, and her nine great-grandchildren, Aubrianna, Layla, Kyzer, Kyrie, Alaiya, Na'riyah, Jaycee, Malakai, and Makalynn.
Beverly is also survived by her dear brothers Herman (Monnie) Smith of Carthage, Texas; Robert (Gloria) Smith of Marshall, Texas; Jessie (Louise) Smith; Clyde (Dell) Smith of Odessa, Texas; and her loving sisters Debbie (Earnest) Smith of Longview, Texas; Ruby (Sam) Mitchell; Ethel (Edward) Williams of Los Angeles, CA; Kate (Jimmie) Cook of Bellwood, Illinois; Willie Mae (Rev. Williams) McDonald; and Betty Ruth (Lorenzo) Anderson of Garland, Texas. Her close friend, Beverly Taylor, holds a special place in the hearts of the family.
Beverly attended Turner High School, graduating with the class of 1981. With a heart full of compassion, she worked as a nurse assistant at the facility formerly known as Leisure Lodge, later transitioning to a custodial position until her health no longer permitted. Her work was a reflection of her dedication to helping others, a quality that defined her life.
A woman of faith, Beverly was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Her kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered, and her compassionate spirit was well-known throughout the community. Her door was always open, her kitchen always warm, and her heart always welcoming.
Beverly found immense joy in cooking and being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love and laughter will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
A memorial service to honor Beverly's extraordinary life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, located at 501 Tatum Street, Carthage, Texas 75633.
