October 30, 1942 — March 8, 2026

In loving memory of Beverly Ann Hay, a remarkable woman whose life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit of generosity. Born on October 30, 1942, in Oakland, California, Beverly graced this world with her presence for 83 wonderful years until she peacefully passed away on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family and close friends. Beverly was the beloved daughter of the late Jack William Warren and Ethel Betty Haney, whose nurturing spirits laid the foundation for the woman she would become. Her journey began in the bustling streets of Oakland, and it was there that she cultivated the virtues of love, honesty, and compassion that she carried with her throughout her life. Beverly's life was enriched by her three children: her son, Robert Warren Hay, and her daughters, Leslie Jane Chitwood and Shelley Jean Hay-Bassi. They were her pride and joy, and she lovingly raised them in Castro Valley, California, alongside her first husband, John Irwin Hay. Beverly's devotion to her family was unwavering, and her legacy lives on in her cherished grandchildren, Cameron John Chitwood and Zachary Hay-Belt, and her four great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to her days. A woman of many talents, Beverly graduated from Hayward High School and embarked on a diverse career that reflected her dynamic personality. She worked as a bartender in several San Francisco restaurants, and her infectious charm endeared her to all who crossed her path. Her star shone brightly at McDonald's as a representative, and she later pursued a successful career in real estate. In 1989, Beverly's entrepreneurial spirit led her to purchase the Knights Ferry Resort and Restaurant, which she passionately operated for 17 years. Beverly was a pillar of her community, dedicating herself to numerous organizations and causes close to her heart. She was an active member of the Castro Valley Chamber of Commerce, served on the County Civil Grand Jury, and contributed to the Advisory Board for Substance Abuse Programs for Stanislaus County. Her generosity extended to volunteering with Oakdale CAPS, and she led the Knights Ferry Garden Club as President. However, Beverly's most profound impact was felt through her 46-year commitment to Alcoholics Anonymous, where she helped hundreds of individuals find the path to sobriety. Her love for gardening was evident in the beauty that surrounded her home, a testament to her dedication and artistry. Beverly was known for her directive personality, a testament to her strength and resilience. Her love for organizing events brought people together, and her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality. Beverly was predeceased by her parents, sister-in-law Bonnie Jean Hay, and her former husbands, John Irwin Hay, Ronald DeSilva, and William Bricker. Despite life's challenges, she maintained deep friendships and cherished memories with them all. To say Beverly touched many lives would be an understatement. Her honesty and openness were treasured by those who knew her, and her compassion inspired countless individuals to find hope and healing. Her family lovingly shares, "She touched many lives and will be forever in our hearts." As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate the legacy of love and service she leaves behind. Beverly Ann Hay will be remembered as a beacon of hope, a source of strength, and a loving presence in the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her spirit continue to guide us with love and grace.
