With heavy hearts but a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Bettye Moore, who left this world on July 8, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on December 5, 1937, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bettye was the beloved daughter of the late Homer and Ida Best. Bettye was predeceased by her husband, Willie Moore Jr., with whom she celebrated a loving marriage beginning on their shared birthday, December 5, 1965. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. She was also preceded in death by her cherished parents, Ida and Homer Best, and her son-in-law, Ralph Bellamy. Bettye's legacy continues through her devoted children—Calenthia Bellamy, William Michael Moore and his wife Karen, Randy Moore and his wife Melissa, and Sarah Moore-Chung and her husband Shane. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was blessed with ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense happiness. Bettye worked as an Assistant Clerk at Harper Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, for 15 years, followed by ten years at the Roseville Nursing Home, where her compassion and kindness were evident to all who crossed her path. An active member of the First Baptist World Changers International Ministries for four decades and a devoted participant at the Divine Revelation Church under Pastor Caroline Simpson, Bettye's faith was a guiding light in her life. Her church families were sources of strength and community. Bettye was a woman of many interests, finding joy in fishing, knitting, reading, and playing bingo. She loved to travel and dine out, savoring the experiences life offered. Known for her quick wit and infectious smile, Bettye had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Her kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on countless lives. A service to celebrate Bettye’s life will be held on July 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Peace at Riverside Cemetery, located at 2650 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY 14612.
