Betty Ruth Bogan (Gregory)

July 3, 1925 — April 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Betty Ruth Bogan (Gregory), who departed this world peacefully in her sleep on April 20, 2026, at the graceful age of 100. Born on July 3, 1925, in Portage, Indiana, Betty filled her century of life with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone she met. Betty was the cherished daughter of Bill and Maude Gregory, and she was predeceased by her devoted husband of 71 years, James Robert Bogan, affectionately known as Bob, along with her parents and eight siblings. Despite their absence, Betty carried their love and memories with her throughout her life. A proud graduate of Valparaiso High School in 1943, Betty's journey led her to Hobart, Indiana, where she and Bob owned and operated a successful carpet store for 20 years. Her entrepreneurial spirit was complemented by her years of service at Sears, where she was known for her dedication and warm smile. Betty was a devoted member of St. Bridgett's Catholic Church in Hobart, where her faith was a guiding force in her life. Her presence in the church community was one of kindness and compassion, reflecting her deep commitment to her beliefs. Though small in stature at just 4'10", Betty's personality was larger than life. She was renowned for her great sense of humor and her "small but mighty" spirit. She found joy in the simple pleasures, like traveling the world with her dear friend Martha Wilson. Together, they embarked on adventures that filled Betty's life with unforgettable memories and stories to share. Betty leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving children: Barb Ruszel, Jim Bogan, Beth Winney, Larry Bogan (Vicky), Sue Biggs (Dan), and Jeff Bogan (Lisa). Her special niece, Jane McCabe (Jim), also held a significant place in her heart. Betty had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love extended deeply into their lives and her family and friends, who were all blessed by her nurturing and caring nature. In accordance with Betty's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing her family to celebrate her life in an intimate setting. As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman, we remember her not only for the life she lived but for the love she gave so generously. Betty Ruth Bogan's legacy is one of resilience, love, and laughter. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts. As we celebrate her life, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved Bob and her family, watching over us with the same love and warmth she bestowed upon us during her time on Earth.
