In the embrace of a life well-lived, we fondly remember Betty R. Cain, who passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer. Born on January 3, 1940, in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, Betty's journey was one of unwavering love, dedication, and resilience. Betty was the cherished daughter of the late Ida M. Scruggs and Corey Cain. She was raised in a family that valued strength and togetherness, which became the foundation of her life. Betty's education began at the esteemed Council Training School in Huntsville, Alabama, where she developed a lifelong passion for learning and service. On June 17, 1960, Betty entered into a beautiful union, embarking on a new chapter filled with love and family. Her marriage was a testament to partnership and commitment, enriching the lives of all who knew her. As a devoted mother, she lovingly raised her children: Karen Reid, Lawanda Cain, JoNoah Cain, Lillie Scruggs, and Carney Scruggs, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and integrity. Betty's professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. She was employed by the American Linen Supply Company, where she worked tirelessly for thirty-six years before her well-deserved retirement. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of kindness and diligence, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. A pillar of her community, Betty was a devoted member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for over forty-four years. Her service in the Nurses Ministry and the Golden Age Club touched countless lives, offering comfort and joy to those who needed it most. Her faith was a guiding light, and her commitment to her church family was unwavering. Betty's heart was a boundless well of love, and her family was her greatest pride. She leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren, Nakiya Reid, Kylon Reid, and Michaela Scruggs, who brought immense joy to her life. Her surviving siblings, brothers Scooter, Michael, and Donald Scruggs, and sisters Julia Mae Scruggs, Leslie Greer, and Shaun Greer, will remember her as a loving sister with a generous spirit. Though her parents, Ida M. Scruggs and Corey Cain, preceded her in death, as did her beloved husband, Betty's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her life was a testament to courage, love, and faith, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. A celebration of Betty R. Cain's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 2:32 PM at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2449 Herman Street, Nashville, TN 37208. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her grace and kindness. As we say goodbye to our dear Betty, let us hold her memory close, cherishing the wonderful moments we shared and the lessons she imparted. Her spirit lives on in the love she gave and the lives she changed.
