March 13, 1936 — October 21, 2026
Betty Neufeld, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, in the presence of her beloved surviving children: Glenn, Dona, and Jerry. Born on March 13, 1936, in Brownsville, Texas, Betty was the cherished daughter of John Houston and Else Hargis. Her life's journey was marked by an unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Betty's early years were spent in Fresno, California, where she graduated from high school before pursuing her calling as a nurse. Her compassion and dedication led her to earn a nursing degree, and she faithfully served as a Registered Nurse for many years. Her career took a pause as she devoted herself to raising her four beloved children, only to return to nursing with renewed vigor once they were grown.
In 1957, Betty married her soulmate, Robert "Bud/Bob" Neufeld. The couple shared a remarkable 62 years together, a partnership rooted in love and mutual respect. They faced life's challenges hand in hand until Bob's passing on October 21, 2019. Together, they raised a family that continues to honor their legacy of love and devotion.
Betty's life was a tapestry of faith and service. She was a pillar of her church community, taking on roles as a member, choir participant, elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and youth leader. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, inspiring all who knew her.
Aside from her church activities, Betty found joy in simple pleasures. She was an accomplished cook, known for her delicious meals and preserves. Her sewing skills were admired, as she lovingly crafted clothes for her family. Easter and Christmas were her favorite times of the year, as she delighted in gathering her family for festive celebrations.
Betty's legacy lives on through her surviving children: Glenn (Joyce) Neufeld, Dona (Mohsen) Saadat, and Jerry (Kimberly) Neufeld. She was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit forward. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob, and her eldest child, Peggy Knab.
Betty's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. In honoring her memory, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
Betty will be dearly missed but her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.
