January 16, 1932 — June 2, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Betty Lou McGuire on June 2, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family at The Gardens. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Betty's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and unwavering faith. Born on January 16, 1932, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the late Henry and Lydia Cordell, Betty was the youngest of a close-knit family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edgar McGuire, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage, her brothers Charles, HA, and Paul Cordell, sister Adamay Potter, son-in-law Richard Madden Jr., and grandson Richard (Ricky) Madden III. Betty met the love of her life, Milford Edgar McGuire, and they married on June 19, 1950. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion, raising a family that was the center of Betty's world. She is survived by her cherished children: Velvetta Madden of Sapulpa, Deniece and Bobby Cearley of Tulsa, Milford and Irene McGuire of Tulsa, Rodney and Jeanna Madden of Sapulpa, Julia and Todd Lee of Grove, and LaCona and Casey Sechrest of Sapulpa. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, including Cory and Lindsay Sechrest, Clay Sechrest, Dillon Madden, Dolson, Erica and Rick Watson Madden, Taylor Lee, Tucker Lee, Abigail Lee, Tyler Lee, Richard Watson, and Samual Watson. Betty was also blessed with three great-great-granddaughters: Lucille (Lucy) Sechrest, Leah Sechrest, and Sallie Sechrest. A graduate of Bristow High School, Betty dreamed of becoming a religious missionary but chose instead to devote herself to her family and community. Her commitment to her faith and church was unwavering. As a dedicated member of The First Church of God, Betty was a Sunday school leader, choir singer, and a constant presence, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. In addition to her role as a loving homemaker, Betty worked as a secretary for McGuire Brothers, the business founded by Edgar and Everett. Her meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills were instrumental in the success of the family business. Betty's life was filled with adventure and joy. She found happiness in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. Her greatest pleasure, however, was gathering her family for joyous get-togethers, where laughter and stories were shared, and love was abundant. Betty Lou McGuire's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. Her gentle spirit and kind heart touched all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith that will forever inspire those who were blessed to be part of her life. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at The First Church of God, where family and friends are invited to honor her memory and share in the joy she brought to the world. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to The First Church of God, ensuring her legacy of faith and service continues. Betty Lou McGuire will be deeply missed but forever remembered, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved so dearly.
