Betty Jean Griffin Grady
March 27, 1949 — May 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Betty Jean Griffin Grady on May 28, 2026. Betty left this world at Crouse Hospital after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. Her strength and resilience were an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on March 27, 1949, in the quaint town of Swainsboro, Georgia, Betty was the cherished daughter of Mary Willie Tiller Griffin Robinson and Freddy Stephen Griffin. She graduated with grace and determination from Swainsboro High School, a place where she forged lifelong friendships and discovered her passion for helping others. Following her graduation, Betty embarked on a new chapter, relocating with her mother and siblings to Syracuse, New York. It was here that she would lay down roots and build a life steeped in love and community.
In Syracuse, Betty met and married the love of her life, Odell Grady. Together, they crafted a beautiful journey of love that was marked by shared dreams and unwavering support for one another. Although Odell predeceased her, their enduring love remains a testament to the strength and depth of their bond.
Betty's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of family, compassion, and community service. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that extends far beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her treasured grandchildren, numbering 31, and her adoring great-grandchildren, totaling 44. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was their guiding light, nurturing them with wisdom and kindness.
Betty’s spirit of generosity and her nurturing nature extended beyond her family. She was an active member of her community, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need. Her compassion and empathy left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered, and her legacy of love and service continues to inspire all who knew her.
Betty Jean Griffin Grady will be laid to rest in a service celebrating her remarkable life on June 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in remembering a life well-lived, a soul deeply loved, and a woman who touched the lives of so many.
In remembering Betty, we honor a life filled with love, laughter, and the unwavering strength of a woman who fought a good fight. She leaves this world a better place through the countless lives she touched, and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Rest in peace, dear Betty. Your journey may have ended, but your legacy will carry on in the love you have left behind.
