Betty Helbig, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on April 6, 2016. Born on March 31, 1958, in New Albany, Indiana, Betty lived a life rich in love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Betty was the cherished daughter of the late Mary Sparrow, who instilled in her a deep appreciation for family values and resilience. Betty is now reunited with her beloved husband, Ronald Helbig, her mother Mary, and her sister Tina Hooper, all of whom predeceased her and who she missed dearly.
A woman of strength and grace, Betty's legacy lives on in her surviving family members, who will hold her memory close to their hearts. She is survived by her devoted son, Ronald Helbig, and her loving daughter, Julie Napier, both of whom were her pride and joy. Her grandchildren, four in number, were the lights of her life, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. Betty also had the joy of welcoming two great-grandchildren into the world, expanding her family and her heart.
Betty's sisters, Debi Cleaver and Kathy Forbes, shared countless memories and an unbreakable bond with her, filled with laughter and support. They, along with the rest of her family, will cherish the moments and memories they created together.
Throughout her life, Betty was known for her generosity and warmth. She extended her care and compassion not only to her family but also to her friends and community, touching the lives of many with her open heart and welcoming spirit.
To honor Betty's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing her family and close friends to celebrate her life in an intimate setting. Although the gathering is private, the impact of her life is felt by all who knew her.
As we say goodbye to Betty Helbig, we celebrate a life well-lived and a love that will continue to surround and uplift her family. Her spirit will remain with us, a guiding light in times of darkness and a beacon of the love she so freely gave.
