Betty's early years in Halliday, ND, laid the foundation for a life steeped in learning and service. Graduating from Halliday High School in 1957 as valedictorian she nurtured a lifelong passion for education. Her commitment to learning was formalized when she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Minot State College in 1990. Their union was a joyful journey, farming west of Garrison and traveling across all 50 states through the North Dakota Farmers Union.
Betty's life was enriched by her faith and dedication to her community. A devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, she also actively participated in the Garrison Senior Citizen Center and the ND Farmers Union. Her unwavering faith and empathy guided her through life's challenges, earning her the love and respect of all who knew her. Betty had an extraordinary gift for seeing the good in people, never uttering an unkind word.
