Betty Carol Cahoon

Betty Carol Cahoon, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. Born on January 28, 1939, in LaGrange, Indiana, Betty was the 13th child of Ledger and Clara Pontius. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, and her devoted husband, John Alvin Cahoon. Betty and John shared a life full of love and adventure, beginning with their marriage on February 6, 1960, in their hometown of LaGrange. Together, they built a family that was the center of Betty's world. She is survived by her three children: Edward Keith Cahoon and his wife Diana; daughters Amanda and Courtney. Sandra Lee Mason and her daughter Lindsay Almquist and husband Justin. Allyn Arthur Cahoon and wife Gail, children Dillon, Reily, Shea Toth, and Quinn Cahoon. Betty's legacy of love and kindness continues through her 7 grandchildren and great grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Education was a cornerstone of Betty's life. She proudly earned an Associate of Arts degree in Justice Studies, a testament to her dedication and passion for learning. Her life's work was marked by her unwavering commitment to justice and fairness, values she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Betty faced life's challenges with grace and resilience, including her battle with dementia in her later years. Her strength and spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tracy Morgan, whose compassionate care brought comfort and laughter to Betty. Special thanks are also extended to the staff at Timbersprings Transitional Care for their support in Betty's final months. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Betty's memory. Her life was a testament to selflessness and generosity, and any acts of kindness in her name would be a fitting tribute. Betty will be remembered for her warm smile, her boundless love for her family, and her unwavering faith in the goodness of people.
