In Loving Memory

Betty Antoinette Moyer
April 5, 1925 — June 28, 2026
It is with great sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, Betty Antoinette Moyer. Born on April 5, 1925, in Corsicanna, Texas, Betty left this world gently in her sleep on June 28, 2026, at the age of 101. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family in Yreka, California.
Betty was the cherished daughter of Ila Maye Rogers and James Rogers. From her earliest days, she exhibited a zest for life and an indomitable spirit that would define her journey. She met the love of her life, Richard A. Moyer, affectionately known as Dick, at a USO dance in Greenville, Texas, in 1943. Their love story was one for the ages, marked by a marriage that began on October 19, 1947, and spanned decades until Dick's passing. Together, they were blessed with a beautiful family, including their oldest daughter, Rebecca Benton, sons Richard Moyer, Charles Moyer, and William Moyer, and a legacy of 14 grandchildren who adored her.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard, and her younger daughter, Elizabeth Moyer, whose memories she kept alive with stories and love.
A woman of remarkable intellect, Betty graduated at the top of her class from East Texas State Teachers College with a BA in Commercial Education. Her academic prowess led her to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Department of State at the Pentagon, serving the Representative to General Marshall. It was a post she held with distinction until she chose to focus on her family, marrying Dick and embarking on a journey that took them across the globe.
As a proud Air Force wife for 25 years, Betty embraced her roles with grace and charm, supporting Dick's career while nurturing their family in diverse locales, including Tucson, AZ, Sacramento, CA, Puerto Rico, and Rome, NY, where Dick retired as a pilot. They settled in Sacramento, California, before moving to Yreka, where Betty became an integral part of the community.
Betty's professional journey continued as she served the Siskiyou Welfare Department from 1979 until her retirement in 1992. Her earlier career saw her working as a secretary for General Marshall's Representative and dabbling in modeling for high-end dress manufacturers. Ever the volunteer, Betty offered her time and compassion as a "Gray Lady" in Puerto Rico, assisting medical staff at the Ramey Air Force Base hospital.
In Yreka, Betty was a vibrant member of the Woman's Yreka Lioness Club and served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Her hobbies included horseback riding, painting, crocheting, and volunteering for numerous events. Her joyous and outgoing personality, coupled with her magnetic charm, left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A celebration of Betty's life will take place at 11:30 AM on July 18, 2026, at the Yreka City Cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available at rickmoyer160@gmail.com.
The Moyer family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Siskiyou Springs for their compassionate care during Betty's brief stay, as well as the dedicated doctors and staff at Siskiyou Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Betty's honor.
As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman who lived every moment with passion and grace, we are reminded of the warmth she spread and the love she sowed. Betty Antoinette Moyer's legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
