Betty Ann (Mockerman) Martinson

August 11, 1942 — March 7, 2026

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Ann (Mockerman) Martinson, who left this world on March 6, 2026. Betty passed away peacefully at the Munson Hospice House, enveloped in love and warmth, just as she lived her cherished 83 years. Born on August 10, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Betty was the daughter of Lillian Gertrude (Watson) Rowan and Kenneth Mockerman, and later lovingly raised by her stepfather, Harold Rowan. With a heart full of kindness and a spirit as bright as the Michigan summers, Betty spent her life spreading joy and love to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Betty graduated from Lee High School in Grand Rapids, where she began to lay the foundations of a life rich in love, family, and community. In the spring of 1961, Betty married the love of her life, George Martinson, at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in East Grand Rapids. Together, they celebrated 64 beautiful years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering commitment and the deep bond they shared. Betty was blessed with three loving children: Debra Grose, Ronald Martinson, and David Martinson. Her legacy continues through her 10 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit, her kindness, and her joy for life. Betty's love for her family was fierce and unwavering; her happiest moments were spent watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, attending their games with a heart full of pride. A woman of many passions, Betty found joy in traveling with her beloved George, exploring the world hand in hand. She was an avid bowler and took great pleasure in participating in tournaments across the country. Her love for sports extended beyond her family, as she was a devoted fan of NASCAR and baseball, never missing an opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams. Betty was a cherished member of the Fife Lake Baptist Church community, where her faith and compassion were evident to all who knew her. Her presence will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by her kindness and warmth. Betty is predeceased by her parents, her stepfather, and her dear mother-in-law, Mary. She is survived by her loving husband, George; her devoted children, Debra, Ronald, and David; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her in their hearts. A service to honor and celebrate Betty's remarkable life will be held on March 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Fife Lake Baptist Church, located at 449 W State St, Fife Lake, MI 49633. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to her husband, George, to support him during this difficult time. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of sorrow. Betty Ann Martinson will be forever in our hearts, her memory a guiding light, as we continue to celebrate the love and legacy she leaves behind.
