August 10, 1942 — March 6, 2026
In loving memory of Betty Ann (Mockerman) Martinson, who passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the Munson Hospice House, we celebrate a life filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories. Born on August 10, 1942, in Grand Rapids, MI. Betty's journey was one of kindness and warmth, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Betty was the beloved daughter of Lillian Gertrude (Watson) Rowan and stepdaughter of Harold Rowan, both of whom preceded her in death along with her father, Kenneth Mockerman, and mother-in-law, Mary. Her early years in Grand Rapids shaped her gentle spirit and resilient nature, qualities that she carried with her throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Lee High School, Betty's passions extended beyond the classroom. She was an avid bowler, enthusiastically participating in numerous tournaments across the country. Her love for sports was matched by her enthusiasm for watching NASCAR and baseball games, which she enjoyed sharing with her family.
On April 14, 1961, Betty married the love of her life, George Martinson, at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in East Grand Rapids, MI. Together, they built a beautiful life over 64 years of marriage, marked by their shared love of travel and the joy of attending their grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's games. Betty's vibrant presence was a constant source of encouragement and pride for her family.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband, George, her loving children: Debra Grose (her late husband Harvey Grose), Ronald Martinson and his wife Jamie, and David Martinson and his wife Crystal. Her legacy continues through her 10 grandchildren and an impressive 34 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life and a testament to her enduring love.
A dedicated member of the Fife Lake Baptist Church, Betty's faith was an integral part of her life. Her community was blessed by her kindness and unwavering commitment to those around her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty's life at a service on March 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Fife Lake Baptist Church, located at 449 W State St, Fife Lake, MI 49633. Luncheon to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to her husband, George, in honor of Betty's generous spirit and lifetime of devotion.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the support and love shown during this time, and they hold dearly to the memory of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will remain "Forever in our hearts."
