Bettie Jean Parker

July 13, 1956 — August 23, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Bettie Jean Parker, who transitioned peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family on August 23, 2026. Bettie was born on July 13, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Albert and Bettie Mae Campbell. Bettie was a beacon of love and laughter, always armed with a joke to brighten any room and a kindness that touched everyone she met. Her warmth and humor were her trademarks, endearing her to all who crossed her path. Bettie's life was one of service, both professionally and personally. After attending Frederick Douglass High School, she dedicated her career to caring for others as a nursing assistant, a role that perfectly suited her compassionate spirit. She was a cherished mother to her children: Robert Jamerson Sr., Jerry Jamerson Jones, and Cecelia Jamerson Jones. Bettie's legacy of love continues through her siblings, Doretha McCalpin, Charles Campbell, Annette Mallett, and Henry Campbell, and a host of grandchildren, including Terinie Mims, Jasmin Nolan, Chanel Lewis, Frederick Tucker, Jerrica Maiava, Jerry Jamerson Jr., Journey Jamerson, Jeremiah Jamerson, Vernon Hart Jr., Vincent Hart, and Fernando Eddington. Her family extended to eleven great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Bettie was predeceased by her dear family members, Ester Anderson, Albert Campbell Jr., Glen Campbell, Jeanette Campbell Smith, Emma Williams, and Blanche Bafford, who she now joins in eternal rest. A celebration of Bettie's life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2219 Stovall, Memphis, TN, 38108. The family invites all who knew and loved Bettie to join them in honoring her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Bettie. This gesture would honor her generous spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others. The family of Bettie J. Parker wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support and love during this difficult time. Your cards, visits, flowers, and every act of kindness have been deeply appreciated and have provided comfort to us all. Bettie will be forever missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know and love her.

Poem / Prayer

You can shed tears that she is gone,Or you can smile because she lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back ,Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left. Your heart can be empty because you cannot see her, Or you can be full of the love that you shared.
