Bettie Fay Allen, a beacon of love, kindness, and resilience, was born on March 12, 1948, in Aliceville, Alabama. On October 2, 2026, she departed this world, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Bettie was the cherished daughter of Jimmie Thornton and was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Mrs. Pearlie Thompson, her mother, Jimmie Thornton, and her brother, James Thornton. Her memory will be lovingly carried forward by her daughter, Sonia Demetria Allen; her grandson, Isaiah Jeremiah Allen; her great-granddaughter, Jace Isabella Allen; her brothers, Tommie Richardson (Tina), George Richardson (Carolyn), and Stanley Thornton; her sister, Priscilla Williams; her best friend, Jackie Malone; her goddaughter, Ebony Walker; and her devoted caregivers, Lucinda Nanez and Tamiko Walker. Bettie was also a treasured aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and a beloved friend to many. A graduate of Carver High School in Gadsden, AL, class of 1966, Bettie pursued her passion for real estate and obtained her Georgia Association of Realtors License in 1982. She became a well-known realtor in the greater Atlanta area, driven by her love for helping families find their forever homes. Her career was marked by fifteen years of dedicated service at the Federal Aviation Administration, followed by another fifteen years at the Economic Development department for the City of East Point. Even after her retirement, Bettie's commitment to her community led her to work at the City of East Point Housing Authority, continuing her mission to assist families. A faithful member of Allen Temple AME Church, Bettie served in various ministries, embodying her commitment to faith and service. She embraced life with a spirit of adventure, enjoying travels with friends, the soothing voice of Nancy Wilson, and the simple pleasure of a fine glass of wine. Bettie was known for her quick wit, striking beauty, and loyalty to her loved ones. The celebration of Bettie Fay Allen's life will take place on October 10, 2026, at 4:00 PM, at Gus Thornhill's Funeral Home, located at 1315 Gus Thornhill Jr. Dr., East Point, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to Bettie's heart. Bettie Fay Allen's life was a testament to love, perseverance, and the joy of helping others. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
