Bette Jean Burleson

February 16, 1934 — June 28, 2026

Bette Jean Burleson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, left us on June 28, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on February 16, 1934, in the town of Eatonville, Washington, Bette was the only child of Leslie A. and Ethel C. Moon. Bette graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1952. She married Cecil A. Burleson and embarked on a career as an army wife. Together, they traveled to Europe, Nevada, California and ended up right back in Washington state. Bette served as the office manager for the family business, Burleson Electric, for many years. She was an avid quilter and knitter and these beautiful treasures remain as a testament to her creativity and love. Bette's interests were expansive. She maintained a beautiful rose garden, had an enduring affection for schnauzers and a keen eye for the hidden gems of estate sales. Bette is survived by her devoted husband of 73 years, Cecil A. Burleson. Together, they raised four children: Michael (Naomi), Debra, Brian (Betty), and Robert (Renee'). Her legacy extends through her six grandchildren: Barbara, Nicholas, Joshua, Samantha, Nathan, and Ryan, and further into the hearts of six great-grandchildren: Taylor, Cameron, Annabelle, Ethan, Jayce, and Amberly. Her lineage continues to flourish with her great-great-grandchildren, Raelynne and Lucas, who will carry forward her spirit and love. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Homebridge Adult Family Home for their years of caring service, which provided Bette with comfort and dignity in her later years. Bette will be placed at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042. A short ceremony will begin at (time) on (date). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Bette's memory to The Humane Society Tacoma & Pierce County, reflecting her deep love for animals and her lifelong commitment to their welfare.
