Bessy Bobo
February 23, 1928 — May 11, 2026
In loving memory, we announce the peaceful passing of Bessy Bobo, a cherished soul who departed this life on May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at her home. Born on February 23, 1928, in Tunica, Mississippi, Bessy lived a full and meaningful life of 98 years, enriching the lives of everyone she encountered with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
Bessy's life was a tapestry woven with love and devotion. She was the beloved daughter of John and Inez Washington, both of whom she has now joined in eternal rest, along with her devoted husband, James Bobo. Together, Bessy and James built a beautiful life from their early years of marriage in their hometown of Tunica. Their union blessed them with four children: James Bobo Jr., Kate Bobo, Charles Bobo, and Bonnie Savier. Though she endured the heartache of losing three of her children, Bessy's spirit remained resilient and nurturing.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving daughter, Bonnie Savier, and her grandchildren, Rhonda Dinwittie, Myra Pickens, Eltramice Fondren, Kendra Bobo, and Phairen Pickens. Bessy found immense joy in the laughter and presence of her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, with whom she shared her stories and life's wisdom.
A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Bessy's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her as she raised her children and participated actively in her church community. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to the garden she tended with such care; Bessy possessed a green thumb that bore fresh vegetables, a testament to her love for sharing nature's bounty with family and friends.
The family will celebrate Bessy's remarkable life on May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a service held at the Tunica Church of Christ, located at 1777 Hwy 61 N, Tunica, MS 38676. This gathering will be a time to honor her memory and the indelible impact she left on all who knew her.
In this time of reflection and gratitude, the family extends their heartfelt thanks to Bessy's dedicated caregivers, Laura Ann Gibbons and Sarah Mitchell, for their compassionate care and support during her final days.
Bessy Bobo's legacy lives on in the hearts and lives of her loved ones. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and the simple joys of nurturing both garden and soul. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
