September 7, 1945 — April 8, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Bessie Wamsley, who departed this world on April 8, 2026, after courageously battling numerous health scares. She was 80 years old. Born on September 7, 1945, in the charming city of Charleston, West Virginia, Bessie was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her lifetime. She was a woman whose heart knew no bounds, nurturing those around her with unwavering love and compassion. Bessie's early years were marked by a deep love for her hometown, where she cultivated a spirit of generosity that would become her hallmark. Her journey through life was enriched by her cherished relationships. She partnered with Harry K. Fox, welcoming her first son, Richard L. Fox Sr., in December 1968. She later married the love of her life, Glenn D. Wamsley Sr., on September 21, 1970. Together, they built a beautiful family and welcomed their children, Gloria M. Wamsley in June 1972 and Glenn D. Wamsley Jr. in October 1974. Bessie was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Glenn Wamsley Sr., who left her side far too soon. Her legacy, however, continues to shine brightly through her surviving children, Richard L. Fox Sr., Gloria M. Wamsley, and Glenn D. Wamsley Jr., as well as her six grandchildren: Jennifer N. Fox, Elizabeth L. Meggison, Jessica S. Fox, Nichole M. Meggison, Julie R. Fox, and Richard L. Fox Jr. Her love also extends to her seven great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of Bessie's gentle spirit. A woman of many passions, Bessie found immense joy in culinary pursuits. The kitchen was her sanctuary, where the aroma of her cooking and baking filled her home with comfort and love. Her meals were not just food but expressions of her heart, crafted with the intent to bring happiness to those she held dear. Outside the kitchen, you could find her knitting or enjoying the excitement of WWE, her laughter echoing through the room. Bessie had a remarkable ability to listen without judgment, offering a safe haven to anyone in need of comfort. Friends and family knew they could always turn to her for support, as she never complained and embraced life with a grateful heart. A private ceremony to honor Bessie's memory will be held on April 12, 2026, at 10:00. Though her physical presence will be sorely missed, her spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. As they cherish the memories of Bessie, they share this special message: "Forever in our Hearts." Bessie Wamsley's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and kindness. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends, reminding us all to live life with an open heart and a generous spirit.
