In loving remembrance, we celebrate the life of Bessie Wamsley, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away on April 8, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on September 7, 1945, in Charleston, West Virginia, Bessie was a beacon of warmth and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Bessie's life was a testament to strength and compassion, navigating life's challenges with grace. Despite her walking disability, she never allowed it to define her, choosing instead to define her life through acts of kindness, love, and the simple joys she found in everyday moments. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Glenn D. Wamsley Sr., whose memory she cherished dearly. Bessie is survived by her loving children: Richard L. Fox Sr., Gloria M. Wamsley, and Glenn D. Wamsley Jr., who were the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Jennifer N. Fox, Elizabeth L. Meggison, Jessica S. Fox, Nichole M. Meggison, Julie R. Fox, and Richard L. Fox Jr., and her seven great-grandchildren, who were the light of her later years. Bessie's journey began with her partner, Harry K. Fox, with whom she shared a life filled with love and laughter, welcoming their son Richard into the world in December 1968. Her heart expanded further when she married Glenn D. Wamsley Sr. on September 21, 1970, building a family filled with love and togetherness, welcoming Gloria in June 1972 and Glenn Jr. in October 1974. While Bessie did not complete formal education, she possessed a wisdom and understanding that transcended any classroom. Her kitchen was her sanctuary, where she expressed her love through cooking and baking, delighting in the happiness she could bring to others with a hearty meal. When not in the kitchen, Bessie was an avid fan of WWE, finding joy in the stories and triumphs of her favorite wrestlers, or she could be found knitting, creating warmth with each stitch. Known for her ability to listen without judgment, Bessie was a confidante and friend to many. Her presence was a comforting balm to those around her, as she offered a listening ear and a kind heart to anyone in need. Her uncomplaining nature and appreciation for life's simple pleasures taught those around her the true meaning of gratitude. A private ceremony will be held to honor Bessie's life on April 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Her family takes solace in the shared memories and enduring love that Bessie leaves behind, holding her "Forever in our Hearts." As we bid farewell to Bessie, we are reminded of the warmth she brought into our lives and the strength she embodied. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will forever be cherished by her family and friends. May her spirit find peace, and her memory continue to inspire us all.
