Bessie Evans, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-four. Born on April 14, 1932, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Bessie was the daughter of the late Hennry Evans and Marie Ann Cozart. She was predeceased by her sister, Ella Green, and is survived by her son, James Evans, her daughter, Annie Evans Moore, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored immensely. Bessie's life was a testament to love, warmth, and the nurturing spirit she shared with everyone she met. On June 15, 1962, she married her beloved Hennry Evans in Raleigh, and together they spent 48 wonderful years, raising their two children and creating a home filled with laughter and love. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she was the heart and soul of every gathering. An active member of the First Baptist Church for over 40 years, Bessie was known for her steadfast faith and unwavering commitment to her community. Her presence within the church was marked by her quick wit and warm smile, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. Always ready with a joke and a kind word, she had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Bessie found joy in the simple things in life. Her love for gardening was evident in the vibrant blooms that surrounded her home, a testament to her nurturing nature. The kitchen was another of her happy places, where she would cook up hearty meals and share her culinary delights with friends and family alike. A woman of undeniable grace and kindness, Bessie's generosity touched countless lives. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and an enduring spirit that will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her. A service to honor Bessie's life will be held at 12:00 PM at Lori's Funeral Home, located at 2720 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Bessie's generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others.
