It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bertina Brown, a beloved matriarch, cherished mother, doting grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed from this world on April 22, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on October 29, 1932, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Bertina was a beacon of love and strength to her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Bertina's life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was predeceased by her beloved sons Robert and Earl Landor, who remain forever etched in her heart. Despite the profound loss, Bertina's spirit and legacy continue through her surviving family members: her devoted daughter-in-laws, Argentina and Gail Landor, who she loved dearly, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Bertina was blessed with a large and loving family, including 20 grandchildren and an astonishing 65 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Throughout her life, Bertina exemplified grace and dignity, always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a warm embrace. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, stories, and the aroma of her legendary cooking, which she lovingly shared with family and friends. Bertina had a rare gift for making everyone feel valued and special, and her vibrant spirit and gentle wisdom made a lasting impact on all those who had the fortune of crossing her path.
Bertina's dedication to her faith was steadfast and unwavering. A devoted member of the My Pilgrim Baptist Church in Long Beach, Mississippi, she found solace and strength in her spiritual community. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, offering comfort and hope to her and those around her.
A service to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Bertina Brown will take place on April 28, 2026, at 12:30 PM at the My Pilgrim Baptist Church, located at 306 Church Street, Long Beach, MS. Family, friends, and all whose lives Bertina touched are invited to gather in remembrance of her enduring legacy of love, kindness, and faith.
While we mourn the loss of Bertina's presence in our lives, we find comfort in the memories she leaves behind, and the love she instilled in her family, which will be carried forward through generations. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
