Bertha R. Garback
August 15, 1950 — June 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Bertha Garback, who left this world peacefully on June 6, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on August 15, 1950, in the charming city of Hamilton, Ontario, Bertha was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her.
In life, Bertha was a woman of exceptional talents and boundless creativity. Her hands were rarely still, as she was a skilled crafter whose talent for crocheting, knitting, and sewing was unparalleled. Known for her eye-catching and imaginative dog sweaters, Bertha's patterns were not only fluffy and fancy but also crafted with love and care. Each stitch reflected her passion for creating beauty and comfort, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Bertha's love for reading was a joy discovered later in life, thanks to the gentle persuasion of her daughter. After diving into her first Debbie Macomber book, she became an avid reader, often losing herself in the pages of a novel, sometimes finishing a book in a single night. Her newfound love of literature opened a world of stories and adventures that she cherished.
Travel was another joy in Bertha's life, particularly the cruises she took with her son's family. These voyages allowed her to explore new places and create lasting memories with her loved ones. Bertha also held a deep appreciation for her other son's unwavering support and expertise in all things automotive, ensuring she was always safe on the road.
Bertha's love extended to her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Rob (Angi), Mike (Ashley), and Chrissy (Tony); her cherished grandchildren Domenick, Emily, Jayson, and Justin; her devoted brother Rick (Cheri); her dear Uncle Pete; and her close friend Joe. Her presence will be missed by all, including her tiny dog Abby, who brought her immeasurable joy and companionship.
She was predeceased by her loving mother, Valerie Noviks, and her infant grandson, Jacob Ibrahim, whom she now joins in a peaceful reunion.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Carr at IHC Murray for his compassionate care and support during Bertha's final weeks, which provided comfort and dignity in her time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Bertha's memory consider donating to a local animal shelter or library, supporting the causes she held dear.
