Though Jessie and Emma predeceased her, their spirits lived on in Bertha's warm smile and generous heart.
Bertha's educational journey began at Grambling High School, where she graduated with the class of 1974. Her thirst for knowledge and commitment to personal growth led her to Grambling University, where she earned a bachelor's degree, setting the foundation for a life dedicated to learning and service.
Family was at the center of Bertha's world. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, April Jones and Renee Bagby, who continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. Bertha cherished her role as a grandmother, delighting in the laughter and joy of her three grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her wisdom and unconditional love. She was also a cherished sister to Esther Faye Brown and Betty Leonard, with whom she shared countless memories and an unbreakable bond.
