With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bertha Doneghy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this life on August 25, 2026. Born on September 15, 1940, in the quaint town of Centerstar, Alabama, She was the cherished daughter of Marion and Ellen Fields.
Bertha's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and love for her family and community. She was a beautiful Christian woman, whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Her infectious laughter and deep devotion to the love of Christ were ever-present, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the joy of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her parents, one daughter, and three brothers and three sisters, who have now welcomed her into eternal peace. Bertha's legacy lives on through her devoted husband of 54 years, who stood by her side through life's many seasons. Together, they raised a loving family, creating a home filled with joy and faith.
Bertha Evelyn Doneghy was blessed with 3 children, eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, sharing her wisdom and laughter, and instilling in them the values she held dear.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at NAMC for their compassionate care and support during Bertha's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bertha's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and enduring love for others.
Bertha's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter—a reminder to all of the beauty found in a life well-lived.
As per family request there will be no funeral or memorial, as to remember her in life and not death.
