In Loving Memory

Bert E Slane
November 24, 1963 — May 29, 2026
In loving memory of Bert E. Slane, who peacefully departed this world on May 29, 2026, embraced by the love of family and friends, and fortified by his unwavering faith. Bert was born on November 24, 1963, in the welcoming embrace of Burley, Idaho, to the late Floyd (PINK) Slane Senior and Muriel Mae Slane. His journey through life was marked by a spirit of warmth and laughter, and though his earthly presence has left us, his memory will forever remain a guiding light.
Bert shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Gina Haskin Slane, whom he married on August 29, 1987. Their remarkable journey of 38 and a half years together was adorned with love, adventure, and enduring partnership. Their tale began with travels across the country, guided by Bert’s work, before settling back into the heart of the Wood River Valley. It was here that they nurtured and raised their beloved children, Matthew (Allie) E. Slane and Amanda (Jason) Slane, in the same cherished community where both had grown up.
A proud alumnus of Hailey Christian School, Bert graduated in 1982 with dreams that led him to the far reaches of the oil fields and mineral exploration sites across Idaho, Montana, and Kansas. After nine years of following his passion, Bert turned his attention to a career in electrical work, earning his journeyman's license through the College of Southern Idaho in 1991. For 25 years, he dedicated his skills to Pink's Electric, later continuing his career at All Phase Electric for the following decade. Bert's colleagues remember him for his exceptional work ethic and his ability to bring a smile to everyone’s face, even on the most challenging days.
Bert’s life was a testament to kindness, humor, and generosity. Known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, he was a beloved prankster who could lighten any mood with a well-timed joke. Bert had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, a quality that endeared him to countless friends and acquaintances. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
Bert is survived by his loving wife, Gina, his children Matthew and Amanda, and his cherished grandchildren, Jaydyn and Zander. He also leaves behind his dear brother, Floyd Slane Jr., his sister Meredi (Bob) Wagner, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will continue to celebrate his life and legacy.
The Slane family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful community of the Wood River Valley for their unwavering support during Bert’s courageous seven-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Special thanks are offered to David (RN) and the compassionate team at Wood River Hospice, along with Dr. Ferrara, Dr. P, and the dedicated staff at The Cancer Institute of St. Luke's, as well as Dr. Kinsey at Huntsman's Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, UT. Your kindness and care have been a source of comfort and strength.
A celebration of Bert’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable life he led and the joy he brought to those around him. Until then, may we cherish the memories of laughter, love, and joy that Bert generously shared with us all.
