Benton C Harvey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benton C. Harvey, a beloved husband, father, papa and friend, who peacefully departed this world on July 18, 2026, at his daughter's home in Florida, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on June 20, 1941, in Malone, NY, Ben lived a life marked by dedication, love, and unwavering service to those around him. Ben was the cherished son of Edith (Jock) and Calvin Harvey. He graduated from MCH and then married the love of his life, Paula Hebert, on April 23rd, 1961. This began a journey filled with mutual respect, shared dreams, and countless cherished memories. Benton served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, spending four years in service, including two years stationed in Germany, where he reached the rank of sergeant. His time in the military was a reflection of his dedication to duty and his country, values that he carried into all aspects of life. After his military service, Benton returned to civilian life, where he embarked on a long and fulfilling career at the New York Power Authority (NYPA) as a senior control room operator. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his involvement with the IBEW Local 2032, where he advocated tirelessly for his colleagues until his retirement. Ben’s life was enriched by his many passions. An avid gardener who along with his wife owned and operated a veggie stand for 40 plus years, he found joy in cultivating beauty from the earth, if he couldn’t be found you would just have to listen for his tractor. He relished every opportunity to travel, exploring new places and cultures. Ben also loved his time at Heart to Heart with his gym family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Paula Harvey, his brother, Roger Harvey (Juanita) and his treasured daughters, Lisa Harvey Beall (Morgan Beall) and Nicole Harvey Wilmshurst (Walter Wilmshurst). Ben was a proud Papa to Benny, Drake, Neil, Katie, Jimmy, Johnny, Zada, Kimberly, Anna, and bonus step-grandchildren who will always remember their papa’s wisdom and jokes (he had those). He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Randy, and his beloved dog, Kenzie Ben was known for his quick wit and warm smile. Always ready to lighten the mood and had a gift for making people feel welcome and seen. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives here and abroad. In honoring Ben’s legacy, the family invites those who wish to make a donation to Hospice or a charity of their choice, celebrating Ben's spirit of giving. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to all who knew and loved Ben. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will forever remain a guiding light in the those who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.
