Bennie Michael Jefferson, fondly known as "Mike," peacefully passed away on July 12, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on May 16, 1952, in the warm embrace of Aiken County, South Carolina, Mike was the cherished son of the late James and Lucille Jefferson. He is remembered for a life filled with love, service, and dedication. Mike's journey began at Martha Schofield High School, where he graduated in 1970. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he pursued higher education at Massey Business College in Jacksonville, Florida, earning an Associates Degree. His passion for technology led him to Aiken Technical College, where he obtained a certificate in computer programming. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years, a testament to his spirit of service and commitment. After his military service, Mike embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the United States Post Office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, from which he eventually retired. Even in retirement, his quest for knowledge never waned; he dedicated himself to the study of natural herbalism, guided by his unwavering belief in the healing power of God's creations. A devout Christian, Mike was a beacon of faith and an active member of the Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries in Richmond, Virginia, where he served as a Deacon until his health no longer permitted. His faith was not just a belief but a way of life, inspiring those around him with his deep trust in God and the natural world. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Marionette Evans Jefferson. He leaves behind his sister, Addie J. Pennamon of Augusta, GA, and his brother, Alfred J. Jefferson, and sister-in-law, Diane, of Aiken, SC. Their shared memories and the bonds of family were a source of great joy and comfort to him. The family takes this opportunity to express heartfelt gratitude to caregiver Paulene Keller, the staff at Piedmont Hospital, New Bailie Dialysis Center, and the compassionate communities of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead, Tabernacle Baptist Church, and St. John's Tower Apartments for their unwavering support and care. A funeral service to honor Bennie Michael Jefferson's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, located at 596 Johnston Hwy, Trenton, SC. The family invites all who knew Mike to join them in celebrating a life well-lived and a legacy of love, faith, and healing. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Mike's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his belief in the power of nature and healing. May his soul rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of his Creator and the cherished memories of those who loved him.
