In Loving Memory

Benjamin Darrisaw
April 16, 1935 — October 27, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Benjamin Darrisaw, who peacefully departed this world on October 27, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with illness. Born on April 16, 1935, in Tennille, Georgia, Benjamin was a beloved son of the late Mr. Grady Darrisaw and Lissie Askew Darrisaw.
In 1957, Benjamin married the love of his life, Helen Virginia Grier, with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership filled with love and laughter. Together, they raised a family rooted in warmth and kindness, nurturing their children: Frances Miller (Larry Miller), Joyce Darrisaw Hardy, Malissa Darrisaw Jackson (Alvelston Jackson), Allison Darrisaw, Horace Ford, and Diedre L. Darrisaw.
Benjamin was a dedicated worker, whose career spanned numerous roles primarily in maintenance, reflecting his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in music and sports. He relished listening to Classic Soul and R&B, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, never missing a game if he could help it.
Known for his quick wit and loving nature, Benjamin had a remarkable ability to engage in jovial conversations and share stories from his rich tapestry of life experiences. He was a man who could light up a room with his presence and brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Benjamin’s legacy continues through his cherished siblings: Carlos "PoBoy" Darrisaw (Helen Darrisaw) of Louisville, GA, George Wyman Darrisaw of Tennille, GA, Sharon Reeves (Marion Reeves) of Chesterville, VA, and Gladys Darrisaw of Tennille, GA. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his dear grandchildren: Lakesha Darrisaw Carter (Lorenzo Carter), Antiginey Jones (Jarvis Jones), Senetria Gibson, Derrica Sheffield (Jonathan Sheffield), Christa Wilhite (Tim Wilhite), Kevin Woodard, Travis Ford, Tavaris Manning, Horace Manning, John Hardy, Nydia Ford, Kierra Darrisaw, Kenyana Hardy, Ricardo Monroe, Jordan Woodard, Angel Ford, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and close friends.
A celebration of Benjamin’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Hope Evangelistic Ministries, located at 1021 Fayetteville Rd., Atlanta, GA 30316. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Benjamin are invited to attend.
