April 29, 1957 — May 31, 2026
With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Benjamin C. Holland Jr., who departed from this world on May 31, 2026, at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. Born on April 29, 1957, in Cristobal, Colon, Panama, Ben lived a life full of love, creativity, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ben was the cherished son of the late Benjamin C. Holland Sr. and Merdella Adora. He was predeceased by his beloved parents and his brothers, Joseph and Alexander Holland. Ben's legacy of love and laughter continues through his surviving siblings: Sisters Lovella, Shirley, Bernice, and Candida, and Brothers Anthony, Michael, Cyrus, and Ephraim.
In addition to his immediate family, Ben held a special place in his heart for his self-professed Mother Dorothy Green, and her children David, Nathaniel, Debra, Cassie, Crystal, Gwynda, Deidre, and Benita. He also shared a profound bond with three individuals he considered his own children: Diatrae Hawkins, Cassandra, and Noah. His family circle extended to numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, each of whom he cherished deeply.
Ben was fortunate to find his soulmate in Denise Holland, with whom he shared seven beautiful years of love and companionship.
Education was an important part of Ben's life. He attended Chief Sealth High School in 1976 and pursued further studies at Olympic College in Bremerton, where he played football. His passion for learning led him to South Seattle Community College, where he earned certification as a welder.
For 40 years, Ben dedicated his talents to the Boeing Company, where he rose from a Welder to a fabrication supervisor. Following his retirement, he embarked on a new journey as an author, penning five books of varying genres. His love for writing was matched by his commitment to uplifting others, which he demonstrated by founding the Green Heart Foundation in honor of Dorothy Green, his dear self-professed mother.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ben was a man of many passions. Music and dancing filled his soul, and for over 30 years, he brought joy to Seattle's nightlife as a DJ, blending tunes with humor to create unforgettable experiences. He also dedicated his time to nurturing the talents of aspiring artists, helping them refine their musical skills.
Ben was a beacon of kindness and humor, known for his generous spirit and ability to make everyone laugh and feel loved. He was particularly dedicated to supporting women and children, always extending a helping hand where it was needed most. His cooking was unforgettable, always delivering some of the best dishes to friends and family functions.
A service to honor Ben's remarkable life will be held on June 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at MB Daniels Mortuary Services, located at 714 Central Ave. S. in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Seattle Children's Hospital, reflecting Ben's lifelong commitment to nurturing the future of children in his community.
As we bid farewell to Ben, let us celebrate the vibrant life he lived and the countless ways he touched our hearts. His laughter, compassion, and unwavering love will remain with us forever.
