It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we celebrate the life of Belinda Marie Smith, who passed away peacefully at her home on April 9, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by her beloved family after a brave battle with cancer. Born on March 8, 1957, in the quaint town of Montpelier, Vermont, Belinda was a beacon of love, strength, and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Belinda was a devoted wife, married to the love of her life, Jeff Smith, for 35 wonderful years. Together, they nurtured a family full of love, raising three remarkable children: Heather Lower, Richard Lower, and Cody Smith. Her family was her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to shower them with affection. Her heart extended beyond her immediate family, as she became a cherished figure to many, known for her welcoming spirit and the warmth she shared with everyone she met.
Throughout her life, Belinda was known for her vibrant personality, much like the tie-dye shirts she adored. She spent over two decades working at Pizza Hut and later found fulfillment working at the Hanover Co-op before retiring in 2019. Her work ethic, patience, and genuine kindness made her a beloved colleague and friend.
Belinda's life was enriched by her many interests and hobbies. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether tending to her flower gardens, enjoying the sun and sand at the beach, or traveling with friends. Her love for music was evident as she delighted in listening to her husband play guitar and would never miss a chance to dance when a good song played. One of her favorite pastimes was playing Bingo, where her laughter and competitive spirit made each game memorable.
Family was the cornerstone of Belinda's life. She was a loving sister to Kathy Lulek, Debbie Fletcher, and Tony Hill, and a devoted grandmother to Nathan Smith, Kimberly Trefry, Emily Lower, Levi Smith, Daniel Smith, and Abigail Smith. Her nurturing spirit continued with her two great-grandchildren, Emmalynn and Ryleigh Smith, whom she adored and spoiled with boundless love and affection.
Belinda was predeceased by her cherished mother, Marie A. Farnham, and her brother, Steven Hill, whose memories she held dear. Her legacy is carried on by her surviving family members, who will continue to honor her memory and the values she instilled in them.
Those who knew Belinda will remember her as fiercely protective of her children and as someone who never forgot a face. Her heart was generous, and her kindness was a gift to everyone she encountered. In every interaction, she remained authentic, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many.
In accordance with Belinda's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered their love and support during this difficult time.
Belinda Marie Smith's legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will be cherished forever.
