Basilios Constantine Lampos

December 26, 1952 — June 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Basilios (Bill) Constantine Lampos, ,who left this world peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on December 26, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana, Bill was a true son of his hometown, whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. Bill was the beloved son of Gus and Mary Lampos, who predeceased him, alongside his cherished brothers, Peter and Louie Lampos. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Linda Lampos, who stood by his side through every high and low. Bill and Linda were married on October 14, 1978, in Mishawaka, Indiana, and together they built a family filled with love, raising four wonderful and authentic children: Maria Lampos (Jason Tomassi), Billie (George) Limberopoulos, Levi (Gabrielle) Lampos, and Elliott Lampos. Bill was also the proud Papou (grandfather) of six grandchildren: Agape, Tommy, Isabella, Theodore, Ryker, and Lennox, who were the light of his life. Bill's siblings, Jim Lampos, Anna (Nick) Eftimiou, Elaine Lampos, and Irene (Kevin) Armstrong, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends, will forever hold his memory close. A proud graduate of Lasalle High School in 1971, Bill went on to serve his country with honor as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1975. His service was recognized with the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Marksmanship Badge—testaments to his dedication and skill. In his professional life, Bill demonstrated a tireless work ethic, contributing his talents to Bendix, Clark Food Service, teamsters Union and Operating Engineers. He later became the proud owner of Lampos and Sons Home Repair along side his 2 sons. Bill's faith was central to his life. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church and served as president of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) in his youth. His service to others extended beyond religious and cultural communities. Bill was an invaluable member of Quilts of Valor, presenting over 400 quilts to veterans as a gesture of gratitude for their service. He volunteered at the Jackie Walorski VA Clinic and the Center for the Homeless in South Bend, where he played Santa Claus, bringing joy and gifts to children during the holidays. A passionate advocate for veterans, Bill was actively involved with the Marine Corps League in South Bend, VFW 360 in Mishawaka, and served as Vice President of Stop 22 Michiana. His dedication to honoring those who served was also evident in his volunteer work with Wreaths Across America and the South Bend Museum of Art. Bill's zest for life was infectious. He cherished live music, particularly the blues, and was never one to miss a concert in the park. He found joy in gardening, sharing the fruits of his labor with neighbors and friends, and loved the adventure of cross-country trips and scenic train rides. His grandchildren remember fondly the trips to the fair, where his laughter and love made every moment special. Bill was a stranger to no one, and his magnetic personality could light up any room. He was the anchor of his family, embodying the true meaning of perseverance. To know Bill was to understand the depth of his kindness and the breadth of his generosity.
